Hi,

I'm Sarah, mom of two amazing little puddles of joy, wife to the most inspiring person I know, former teacher and creative soul. I am forever obsessed with the beauty of photography.

I remember being a little girl and spending hours a day staring at the fashion advertisements my sister had decorating her walls. The images were often bright images for brands such as Gucci and Versace. The images were full of strange patterns and prints, photographed with a wide angel lens which distorted the models and the objects and made interesting lines that pulled your eyes into the images.

As I was a teenager my love for photography followed me and I found myself being lost in the images as I passed by the advertisements in the shopping malls. I began to pursue my passion for photography when I was 13 and started taking portraits and fashion inspired images of my friends.

I later went to University to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography. It was during my Fine Arts degree that I became drawn to the power or black and white documentary photography. I focused my work on documenting portraits that recreated the stories of my childhood and I won scholarships throughout my time creating Fine Art Portraits, then I  pursued my next level of Education.

I went on to get my Bachelor of Education, where I focused on learning to teach photography and art. Even after years of studying photography, I still find myself standing still in the hallways of shopping malls as I gaze at the advertisements finding myself lost in the story the images are telling.

I began documenting my own family portraits once I became pregnant with my daughter. After she was born I entered a photography contest and the image that I had taken that won and was later chosen for their advertisement was their most viewed image on their social media page. It was this contest that allowed me my first experience into brand photography.

My photography was used as an advertisement for the brand Christy Dawn throughout the year to follow. Most of my work is childhood and family portraits, but much of my work is inspired by the creating the same captivating techniques than advertisements use to draw the viewer in.

I have since done various work for children's clothing brands. I continue to be in awe of both fashion photography and children's portraits; my favourite work includes working with children for fashion brands. I make a priority to bring my passion for creating and learning with me to each photography session.
